Product Description
Make delicious and authentic-tasting sushi at home with the help of Yutaka sushi rice. This premium grade, short-grain rice has been grown in Italy. When it is cooked it becomes light, fluffy, and slightly sticky in texture, making it perfect for mixing with sushi vinegar and pressing together for sushi, as well as ideal for serving with other Japanese meals.
Rice is the dietary staple of Japan. Like how many people in Western countries cannot imagine going without bread for very long, the vast majority of Japanese people will eat at least some rice every day. Japanese, or Japonica, rice is grown all over Japan and in other countries, and the accepted wisdom is that the rice will taste different depending on where it is grown.
Ingredients:
Rice (100%)
Storage:
Store in a cool and dry place.
Preparation Suggestion:
For 3 servings:
1. Wash 250g Yutaka Sushi Rice with cold water, stirring in a circle with your hand. Drain and repeat until water is clear, then soak in cold water for 15-30minutes before draining is thoroughly. Soaking allows the rice to absorb water right to the centre of each grain for even cooking.
2. Add the washed rice to 330ml fresh cold water and bring to the boil. Then simmer on a low heat for 10minutes with the lid on.
3. Turn off the heat and leave to stand for 10minutes with the lid on before serving.

Other information:
In japan, we always use a wooden spoon and bowl to prepare cooked rice. It´s because metal spoons can damage the soft, tender grains, and may also react to the vinegar used to season authentic sushi rice.
