Masseria Altemura
The history of Masseria Altemura began in the 4th century BC with the construction of the Tower of Santa Susana. Masseria Altemura, like other forts, was a fortified house in Puglia that served the purpose of protecting the land and its resources from foreign invaders. In 2000, the Zonin family acquired the property and restored it to its original splendor. The family has made great efforts to preserve the property's underground river, the old olive groves and the region's wine traditions for future generations.

In the heart of the Salento Peninsula, halfway between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas
The history of Masseria Altemura began in the 4th century BC with the construction of the Santa Susana Tower. Masseria Altemura, similar to other forts, was a fortified house in Puglia that served the purpose of protecting the land and its resources from foreign invaders.
The estate, belongs to the Zonin family since 2000, lies in the heart of the Salento Peninsula, halfway between the Seas that lap against Puglia’s shores, the Ionian and the Adriatic. The Zonin Family saw in this area – and in Masseria Altemura in particular – the potential for contributing to the renaissance of wine production in Puglia. There thus began a long period of planning followed by one of actual refurbishment, involving the land and the buildings that now represent the heart of the estate’s headquarters. The total area of the property is over 270 hectares – of which 130 are vineyards and 40 consist of olive groves – thus ensuring substantial annual production. It is a single holding, restored with total respect for the environment and the original architecture. As in the time of the Counts Martini Carissimo that now represents one of the flagship estates in Puglian agriculture.
